Simple, durable broom and textured finishes that give grip on driveways, walks and ramps at a friendly price.
The most common concrete finish is also one of the best: a broom finish. After the surface is floated and troweled, a stiff-bristled broom is pulled across it, leaving fine ridges that give traction. It is affordable, hides small imperfections and works well in the weather. Variations include light and heavy broom textures, swirl patterns, salt finishes and fine-textured surfaces. A Nashville driveway that sees rain and the occasional ice storm benefits from the grip of a good broom finish.
The look and feel depend on the timing and the tool. Too early, and the broom tears the surface. Too late, and it barely marks it. Our finishers read the slab and choose the broom and direction that suit the use: ridges perpendicular to the slope on ramps, a light texture on patios and a deeper one on steep walks. We finish edges with a tool for a neat border, add joints and cure the slab so the surface stays tough.
Broom texture gives traction on driveways, ramps and steps, in dry weather and wet.
Light textures suit patios and heavy textures suit steep or shaded areas.
Ridges run across the slope on ramps, so water and feet both have something to grip.
Tooled borders and joints keep even a simple finish looking sharp.

You tell us about your site and what you want, new concrete, a repair or a refresh, and we set a visit that fits your day.
We walk the property, measure the area, check drainage, soil and access, look at any old concrete and take photos of anything of note.
We explain your options for thickness, steel, finishes and colors, sketch the layout and give you a written scope with clear timing and pricing.
We arrange for underground utilities to be located, protect the house, lawn and landscaping, remove old concrete if needed and compact a stone base.
We set forms and steel, check heights and slopes, place and finish the concrete and cut joints, with the crew on site from the first truck to the last pass.
We protect the concrete as it cures, clean up the site, walk you through when to use it and seal it, and set a reminder for your next check.
No. The ridges give good traction, which is why it is common for driveways and walks.
Yes. A smooth trowel finish is nice indoors, but is slick outside, so we use texture for exterior surfaces.
Yes. Integral color and stain work well with it.
It wears slowly, and sealing helps preserve it.
A finish made by pressing rock salt into the surface and washing it out, leaving small pits for grip.
