Before the crew arrives
Forms, base and steel are ready before the truck comes. We check grades, thickness and joint layouts, and walk through the plan with you. Move vehicles, pets and valuables out of the way, and mark anything buried that we should avoid.
A final check before the pour prevents most surprises.
When the truck arrives
The mix is checked as it arrives, and the concrete is placed quickly, by chute, wheelbarrow or pump. Crews spread and level it, and work it into corners and around steel.
Timing matters because concrete begins to set soon after it is mixed.
Screeding and floating
A straight board, called a screed, is pulled across the forms to level the surface. A float then smooths it and brings fine material up for finishing. Edges and joints are tooled so they are neat and strong.
Bleed water must rise and go before finishing continues.
Finishing
The finish is applied at the right moment, whether broom, stamp, trowel or exposed aggregate. Decorative work is especially time-sensitive. Joints are cut or tooled to control cracking.
Good crews watch weather and surface conditions closely and adjust as they go.
Curing and protection
Curing compounds or coverings keep moisture in, and the area is roped off so no one walks on it. Keep pets, children and vehicles off for the time we advise.
We explain when you can walk, drive and seal.
Cleanup and follow-up
Forms are stripped when the concrete is ready, and the site is cleaned and graded. We check for any needed touch-ups and talk you through care.
You get a clear picture of what to expect over the next weeks.
Clear the area, keep off the slab and trust the crew to work fast, because concrete does not wait.
