Old slabs crack, settle and stain. Here is how to decide between repair, lifting, resurfacing and replacement.
Older neighborhoods are full of concrete that has done its job for decades. Driveways have spider cracks, walkways have heaved at the roots of old trees and porches have settled away from the house. The first question is always the same: is it worth fixing, or is it time to start over? The answer depends on how deep the damage goes and why it happened.
We start by finding the cause. Cracks from shrinkage are cosmetic and easy to seal, while settled slabs may need lifting and heaved slabs may need removal. If the surface is sound but worn, resurfacing can renew it. If the slab is failing, replacement with a proper base, steel and joints is the lasting fix. We explain the cost and trade-offs of each so you can choose with confidence.
Before choosing a fix.
Keep water out.
Often less than replacing.
A fresh surface.

Roots matter.
