Concrete Volume Calculator: How Many Yards Do I Need?

Enter length, width and thickness to see cubic yards, bags and truck loads for a slab, with a waste allowance.

These tools give planning-level estimates from typical values and the details you enter. They are not quotes, designs or engineering, and results depend on your actual site, soil, drainage, existing concrete, weather and local rules. Only a site visit can confirm what a project needs, and we give you a written scope and price before any work begins.

How it works

Four quick steps.

  1. 01

    Pick the shape

A rectangle, a circle or an L-shape for the slab you plan to pour.

  2. 02

    Enter the size

Length, width and thickness, in feet and inches.

  3. 03

    Add a waste allowance

A little extra covers uneven ground and spills.

  4. 04

    Read the order

Cubic yards, bags and truck loads to plan for.

Tips

  • Order a little extra, because running short in the middle of a pour is far worse than having a bit left over.
  • Measure the thickness at the thinnest and thickest points if the ground is uneven.
  • Small pours of a few square feet can use bags, but larger slabs need a truck.
Questions

About this tool.

How is the volume worked out?

Length times width times thickness, converted to cubic yards, plus the waste allowance you choose.

How many bags do I need?

A standard eighty-pound bag makes a little over half a cubic foot, so the tool shows an approximate count.

Is a truck load always full?

Trucks carry a set maximum, and small orders can carry a short-load charge. We explain this in your written scope.

Is this exact?

No. It is a planning figure. A site visit confirms the measurements.
