Questions

Concrete questions, answered plainly.

About driveways, patios, thickness, steel, finishes, repairs, sealing, curing and cost.

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The visit and the estimate are free and come with no obligation. You approve a written scope and price before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

Do you work for homeowners, builders and businesses?

All three. We work for homeowners, builders, developers, property managers, HOAs, churches, schools, real estate agents and commercial owners.

What kinds of work do you do?

Driveways, patios, sidewalks, pool decks, foundations, footings, retaining walls, decorative finishes, repairs, lifting, sealing, commercial slabs and planning help.

Design and materials

How thick should my concrete be?

It depends on the use. Many patios and walks are four inches, while driveways for heavy vehicles are often thicker. Our thickness planner gives a starting point, and a site visit confirms it.

Is stamped concrete better than plain?

It depends on what you want. Stamped concrete looks like stone or brick but needs resealing. Plain broom finish costs less and gives good traction. Many projects mix both.

Do I need rebar or wire mesh?

Heavy-use slabs, foundations and walls usually benefit from rebar. Light slabs may use mesh or fibers. We recommend what fits the job and explain why.

Repairs and problems

Can cracked concrete be repaired?

Many cracks can be sealed or filled. Wide, uneven or growing cracks may call for lifting or replacement, and we find the cause before choosing a fix.

Can a sunken slab be raised?

Often yes. Lifting raises settled slabs back to level, if the slab is sound and the cause of settling is addressed.

Why is my concrete scaling or flaking?

Freeze-thaw cycles, salt and weak surfaces cause scaling. Light damage can be sealed or resurfaced, and deeper damage needs repair.

Care and curing

How long until I can walk or drive on new concrete?

Usually a day or two for walking and about a week for light vehicles. Full strength comes at about twenty-eight days.

When should I seal concrete?

After new concrete has cured for the time the sealer maker advises, then every two to five years. Fall is a good time.

Can I use de-icing salt?

Avoid it on concrete less than a year old. Sand and concrete-safe products are gentler on the surface.

The work and the cost

How long does a project take?

Many driveways and patios take a few days from demolition to pour, plus curing time. We give a schedule in the written scope.

How do I compare quotes?

Compare written scopes: thickness, base, steel, joints, finish, sealer and removal. Our cost guide explains what drives the price.

Do you handle commercial and HOA properties?

Yes. We schedule around business hours, events and board meetings, and we keep written records of every visit.
